King Charles III skipped an ancient and iconic Easter tradition on Thursday to return to royal duties after undergoing treatment for cancer.

The 75-year-old was received at Buckingham Palace after Queen Camilla attended Thursday’s Royal Maundy Day on behalf of King Charles.

On Thursday, the king was photographed greeting Burundian Ambassador Epimeni Bapfinda and Moldovan Ambassador Ruslan Borbosin respectively.

Both leaders submitted their predecessor’s letter of ouster and his own credentials.

The father of Princes William and Harry set a great example by going above and beyond the call of duty and dedicating much of their lives to others while battling cancer.

The monarch, whose cancer diagnosis was publicly disclosed on February 5, has continued to handle state affairs and official paperwork during his treatment but has stepped back from public-facing duties.
