King Charles recalls initial reaction to cancer diagnosis on latest tour

King Charles spoke candidly about his initial reaction upon learning of his cancer diagnosis during his return to public duties.

The 75-year-old monarch visited University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Center with Queen Camilla in his first royal engagement since being diagnosed with an unknown form of cancer.

During the trip, he met with physicians to discuss new discoveries in cancer research, as well as interacted with fellow cancer patients and their families.

On Twitter, royal writer Rebecca English broadcast a patient’s one-on-one conversation with the king.

According to him, Charles revealed that he had to go for a therapy session today i.e. Tuesday, April 30.

When asked about his well-being, the king said, “It is not very bad. It’s always a bit of a shock when they tell you, isn’t it?

The British monarchs were welcomed by a large gathering of well-wishers, including hospital staff and researchers, both inside and outside the hospital.

For those unaware, Buckingham Palace revealed Charles’ cancer diagnosis just days after he underwent a corrective procedure for his enlarged prostate.

At the time, it was revealed that the King would be taking a leave of absence from public-facing duties on the advice of his medical team.

However, it was recently confirmed last week that he has received permission from his doctors to continue royal duties following a period of treatment.
