Khushboo attends ‘Bathukamma’ ceremony at Charminer Temple

Hyderabad, 23 September (IANS) actress and BJP leader Khushboo Sundar attended the Bathukamma ceremony at Bhagyalakshmi Temple on Tuesday.

Khushboo, who is the vice president of the Tamil Nadu unit of BJP, played the role of Bathukamma with Telangana BJP women leaders.

The Hyderabad Police denied the permission of the program citing law and order concerns. However, on a petition by the BJP leader, the Telangana High Court allowed the incident to be subject to certain conditions.

The High Court had ruled that the event could be held with more than 100 women participants, all of which should not have any criminal background.

It also stopped the organizers from inviting VIPs to the program.

Justice NV Shravan Kumar, Dr. BJP Telangana Unit Secretary Dr. B had pronounced orders on a petition filed by B. Uma Shankar, which challenges the police’s decision to deny permission.

In view of the sensitive nature of the region, the police denied permission. The police also quoted that it is a mixed community area surrounded by many puja.

However, the petitioner argued that a uniform celebration was allowed at the same place in October 2024 under some sanctions.

The petitioner of the Assistant Government for the house said that holding the festival on the site may disturb public peace and system, may be inconvenient to tourists, and potentially attract miscreants.

After listening to the arguments, the High Court allowed the program for one and a half hours. It directed that participants should avoid singing songs or political statements that may offend other communities or political groups. The organizers were also directed to ensure that no law and order problems arise.
