New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 17 (IANS) The AICC on Thursday announced the new Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee, comprising 13 vice-presidents, 58 general secretaries and the Political Affairs Committee has been expanded with six additional members.
MPs Rajmohan Anathan, VK Srirandan, Dean Kuriyakosen, besides throne MLAs – Pandalam Sudhakaran, AK Mann and CP Mohammed have been included in the committee’s political affairs.
The decision was approved by the Congress President and later announced in a press release issued by KC Venugopal.
The new vice-presidents include T. Sarathchandra Grisad, Hibi Eden, Palode Ravi, VT Balaram, VP Sajinran, Mathew Kujalandan, D. Ghayal, Rayoya Haridas, M. Liju, AA Shukkur, M. Vincent, Roy K.P.Pusos and Jason Joseph. Notably, Sandeep Warrier, who left the BJP during the Shanti by-election last year, has been appointed general secretary.
M. Liju has been promoted from General Secretary of the organization to Vice President.
Palode Ravi, who resigned from the post of Thiruvananthapuram DCC president, has also been appointed vice president.
D. Sugathan, known for his closeness to Vellappally Natesan, is among the new appointments.
VA Narayanan will serve as KPCC treasurer.
The AICC leadership released the list without naming the secretaries, bringing clarity to long-pending organizational decisions.
Meanwhile, Maripuram Sreekumar, G.Subodhnan and GS Babu have been removed from their posts.
Thiruvananthapuram DCC in-charge and vice president N. Shaktan has also been removed.
The move is being seen as a major organizational reform, which is expected to strengthen the state unit ahead of the upcoming local body elections to be announced soon and the assembly elections to be held in April/May next year.
Over the years, the practice has been to appoint a committee, as the party in Kerala has long been in the clutches of factional leaders, with each faction getting adequate representation.
