Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 15 (IANS) Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan on Wednesday reiterated the political nexus between the CPI(M) and the BJP to stall the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s son in the Lavalin corruption probe.
“Repeated delays in procedural action indicate deliberate political interference to protect certain interests,” Satheesan said. He said it appears that the CPI(M) mouthpiece either ignores or deliberately misrepresents the facts related to the ED notice.
Satheesan said, “Everyone in Kerala has seen the news published by Manorama regarding the notice. The first page was released initially, followed by the second, although the notice has three pages. There is nothing wrong in the report and the ED has confirmed its release.” He stressed that there is a need for clarity from the Chief Minister on whether the notice pertains to the Life Mission case or the Loveleen case.
“The ED has now confirmed that it is related to the Loveleen case. The question is why the ED did not take further action, even though procedural lapses like non-receipt or absence were cited,” the Congress leader asked.
Satheesan highlighted that the case has been adjourned 35-36 times, often when the CBI lawyer claims illness. He alleged that the reason behind the repeated delays is the tacit consent of both the parties.
“Meetings were held between senior police officers and RSS leaders following the notice issued in 2023, which was initially rejected and later accepted,” Satheesan said. He also linked subsequent political incidents – including alleged disruptions during the Thrissur Pooram festival and attempts to ensure BJP’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections.
According to Satheesan, the ED’s actions, or lack thereof, and the protection of some BJP leaders in the Kodakkara black money case, are all linked to this notice, strengthening his claim of a CPI(M)-BJP political nexus subverting justice.
The opposition leader demanded transparency and urged immediate procedural action in the ED case to prevent political interference undermining the rule of law.
