Katy Perry endorses Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Wide Awake’ cover

Katy Perry has agreed to Kelly Clarkson’s latest cover.

Perry also had her say as Kelly Clarkson, 41, performed a rousing version of her 2012 hit wide awake for The Kelly Clarkson Show Kelly Oak segment earlier this week.

Clarkson performed a piano-accompanied version of the song, which received positive feedback from the audience and other contestants, including Perry.

“Well, I can’t sing this song anymore,” Perry, 39, lovingly commented on an Instagram post featuring Clarkson’s cover.

Several other well-known friends, including fellow countrymen American idol Alumnus Adam Lambert expressed his support for the performance.

Perry first released the song, which peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, more than 12 years before Clarkson recorded her vocals.
