Kashmir school shift to online classes amid Indo-Pak tension

Srinagar, May 9: To shut down educational institutions in Kashmir with tension between India and Pakistan, many schools have switched to online mode to ensure that students do not lose precious educational time.

Since the school has closed from May 7 after India’s missile strikes on the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, major private schools in the valley started online classes for their students on Friday.

“My children have started getting online education from today because it is not safe to get out of the houses, especially what happened with boundaries in the last three days,” said Saba Bhat, a mother of two.

Saba has two sons in a major private school in Pampore area of Pulwama district. While she believes that there is nothing better than participating in classes in a person, online classes are the best option in the current scenario.

He said, “Participating in school helps in the overall personality development of children, but security is at least, thus the educational progress of the children will continue,” he said.

Samina Ashraf praises everyone for the management of the school where her daughter and son are nominated.

“Online education was a novel concept when it was introduced extensively during the Kovid epidemic five years ago. However, it has come as a major boon for students. They do not lose academically at any time,” she said.

Samina, who lost a full academic year over extremism in Jammu and Kashmir in 1990, said that the current generation will not have to face the same fate due to the arrival of the Internet in the last three decades and other technological progress.

“Although the current educational system has been forced due to the situation, online classes have become an integral part of education system worldwide,” she said.

Mushtaq Ahmed, a teacher of a government school, said that similar arrangements should be made for public -run schools.

Ahmed said, “Private schools have taken the lead here … We are doing to catch if this situation continues for a long time. It is better that students of government schools also switch to online mode, unless they are safe to participate in schools again in schools,” Ahmed said.

The government has closed schools, colleges and universities as a precautionary measure in view of the situation with boundaries. (Agencies)
