Srinagar, May 15, KDC: Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu visited Srinagar International Airport to review the ongoing development works on Wednesday and to assess operational preparations in view of the recent initiative attack.
With the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and the Chairman of the Airport Authority of India (AAI), the minister inspected a land and interacted with the airport officials and employees. He appreciated the team’s dedication, professionalism and calm response during and later during the recent security incident.
The minister said, “Employees of Srinagar Airport demonstrated commendable composition and coordination after the unfortunate Pahalgam attack. The security forces and their spontaneous cooperation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police ensured a uninterrupted and safe journey for the passengers.”
He praised the role of the airport in ensuring efficient rescue operations and the passengers were extended amidst security concerns. He said, “Taking the situation shows both their preparations and professionalism.”
Minister Naidu further announced that flight operations from Srinagar have now been completely restored at the level of pre-incident. “Our commitment is clear – to maintain a safe sky and strengthen the flexible infrastructure for every passenger,” he confirmed.
He said, “We are here to revive Kashmir tourism. Flight operations have started again. People should go here again. It is a safe place to travel,” he said.
The journey comes as part of the ongoing review of the Center for security and infrastructure readiness in major aviation hubs across the country, especially in sensitive areas such as Jammu and Kashmir. (KDC)
