Kashmir Mirwais Umar Farooq expresses solidarity with the people of Palestine, regrets loss of life in Ladakh

Srinagar, October 2 (IANS) Kashmir Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and regretted the loss of life in Ladakh.

Talking to reporters on the occasion of a religious conference, Mirwaiz Umar said that wherever there is a struggle in the world, real peace can be achieved only when justice is done to the people involved in that struggle.

Referring to the Palestinian issue, Mirwaiz expressed strong solidarity with the people there, “We eagerly want to implement the ceasefire and end the massacre of Palestinians.

“But beyond a temporary expiration of war, what is necessary is a real, fair and permanent peace process. Whether it comes from the West or Islamic block, such a process should adjust the aspirations of the Palestinian people above everything.

“His ineligible right to his land, his future, his dignity and his commitment to an independent Palestinian kingdom should be the foundation of any meaningful settlement. Without it, peace will remain alive.

He said, “It is a shame especially for world leaders especially for global discretion in the decades of ending by Palestinians. A selective approach to peace that ignores justice, only ends struggle”, he said.

He grieved and regretted the recent loss of precious life. He said, “It is unfortunate that the Government of India has complicated the matter due to further harsh rather than addressing the aspirations of the people of Ladakh.

“History has shown time from time to time that peace cannot be implemented through force. To take peace, commitments made to people should be met for peace, and dialogue should replace the conflict.”

He also expressed concern over what he repeatedly said by the authorities on his movements.

“For the last three consecutive Fridays, I have been placed under the arrest of the house without any clarification. I don’t know when or why I will be banned again. Even the peaceful meetings of the Ulema Parishad are rejected.

He said, “In my opinion, the Government of India should reconsider its policy on Jammu and Kashmir. The issues cannot be resolved through force use and the control of the story. Creative engagement and dialogue is a better and human way to achieve continuous peace”, he said.

In his comment on Waqf Properties, he said, “The community should be allowed to manage its religious institutions with autonomy and dignity. The sanctity of religious institutions should be preserved.

“Religious matters should stop interference and intervention, as they hurt people’s feelings and cause unnecessary friction”, “he said.
