Bengaluru, Oct 30 (IANS) The Congress-led government in Karnataka on Thursday continued the crackdown on government employees linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and participating in foot marches across the state.
A case of notices being issued by the authorities to four teachers of Aurad taluk of Bidar district of the state for participating in the RSS foot march has come to light.
Aurad Block Education Officer (BEO) has issued a notice seeking clarification from him regarding his participation.
There was a foot march of RSS in Aurad on 7th and 13th October.
Teachers named Mahadev, Shalivan, Prakash and Satish had participated in it.
On October 27, Dalit Sena leaders had given a complaint to the BEO demanding action against the teachers.
The very next day on Tuesday, the BEO issued a show cause notice to the four teachers.
The notice read: “It has been found that you participated in the foot march of the RSS organized at Aurad taluk of Bidar district on October 7 and 13. Videos and photographs of your participation have been widely circulated on social media. Being a government servant, you are prohibited from participating in any political or religious activities. By participating in the foot march of the RSS, you have violated the government service rules.”
“Therefore, on receipt of this notice, you are directed to furnish a written explanation and appear in person before this office. Failure to do so will result in ex-parte action being taken against you under the Karnataka Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1957.”
Following the letter written by Minister Priyank Kharge to ban RSS activities in public places, state government officials have started issuing notices to government employees for being associated with the RSS.
He had also written another letter specifically urging the state government to initiate action against government employees who identify and donate to the RSS.
Following the government action, the state has passed an order making it mandatory for all private organizations to seek permission from authorities to conduct activities in public places and government-owned premises.
In a blow to the Congress-led government, the High Court Kalaburagi bench had stayed the order.
The state government has said that it will appeal against the court order.
The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) on Thursday stayed the Congress-led government’s order suspending a Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) for participating in a foot march organized by the RSS.
KAT has issued a stay order on the suspension order of PDO Praveen Kumar.
The authorities have suspended him for taking part in the RSS foot march at Lingsagur in Raichur district.
The PDO had questioned his suspension in KAT and claimed that his suspension was against the law and due to political pressure.
