Bengaluru, November 24 (IANS) The Karnataka BJP unit on Monday said that there should be a voter verification process in Karnataka on the lines of Bihar.
Opposition leader and senior BJP leader R. Ashok said on social media platform
BJP leader Ashok said, “Congress, which has made illegal immigrants its vote bank, is opposing the voter list amendment for the same reason. The voter list amendment in Karnataka should be done on the Bihar model.”
Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, he also announced that protests would be held in all assembly constituencies on November 27 and 28, condemning the “anti-farmer” policies of the Congress-led government.
Protests will also be held at the district headquarters on December 1 and 2.
He released a poster titled ‘Congress government has betrayed the farmers’.
BJP leader Ashok said he also showed a short film highlighting the “anti-farmer” actions of the Congress-led government.
He said he would visit Kalaburagi on November 25 and Hosapete on November 26.
He said that the misgovernance of the Congress government during its two and a half year tenure in the state has become a daily nightmare for the farmers.
“Across the state, farmers are facing distress due to crop loss and non-payment of support prices. Because the state government did not properly store water in the Almaty reservoir, farmers in that area lost the opportunity to grow another crop.”
He alleged that the repair work on the gates of Tungabhadra Dam is going on at a snail’s pace.
“Karnataka’s water is flowing towards Andhra Pradesh and the state government is responsible for this,” he said.
He also said, “Compensation has still not been announced for farmers in the state affected by excessive rainfall; opening of maize procurement centers has been delayed; farmers have not been given water for the second crop; and milk incentive payments are stuck without resolution.”
Citing all these issues, BJP leader Ashok said that BJP Kisan Morcha will hold dharna, satyagraha and protests at all the district and taluk headquarters across the state.
“When our BJP government was in power and Yediyurappa and Bommai were the chief ministers of the state, special packages were given to farmers during the floods. It has been six months since the floods, but this (Congress) government is still wavering.”
He alleged that all the ministers are busy touring Delhi.
“Breakfast at Siddaramaiah’s house, dinner at DK Shivakumar’s house – all this is happening,” the BJP leader said.
“They claimed to be a socialist government, but it is a government of clowns,” he alleged.
Commenting on the leadership tussle, BJP leader R. Ashok said, “For the last six months, the state government has been engaged in a tug-of-war for the Chief Minister’s chair. There is a constant fight over who should sit on the chair. Each of them has snatched a leg of the CM’s chair – Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar, Parameshwara and Jarakiholi have all pulled their legs. Today, in Karnataka, there is no Chief Minister’s chair left,” he remarked.
He said, “Some people say that there are 60 MLAs behind them; others claim that there are 70 MLAs behind them. It has been alleged by opposition leaders that there has been misappropriation of Rs 60-70 crore. Horse-trading has started. Not a single minister is reacting to the farmers’ crisis.”
Responding to a question, BJP leader Ashok said, “Mallikarjun Kharge is the Congress president in name only. There is no power in his chair. The AICC president should have been the real high command, but he has become dependent on others.”
In the press conference, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, Chief Whip in the Council N. Ravikumar, BJP Kisan Morcha state president and former MLA AS Patil Nadhaalli, BJP state secretary Sharan T, BJP Kisan Morcha vice president Bharati Mallikarjun and state spokesperson Mohan Vishwa were present.
