Bengaluru, Nov 17 (IANS) Commenting on the Delhi visit of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress president DK Shivakumar and others, the Karnataka BJP on Monday said if there was no chief ministerial change, then why was everyone meeting AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in the national capital?
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, opposition leader R. Ashok said on Monday, “Why are Congress leaders going to Delhi when they say there is no change in the chief minister? I had repeatedly said that ‘the chief minister will change in November’. However, Congress leaders had said that it will not happen. Now, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s brother has gone to Delhi and is sitting there.”
He taunted, “If the CM has not changed then why is everyone meeting Mallikarjun Kharge? The problems of sugarcane farmers have not been resolved, man-wildlife conflict has intensified, compensation for damage caused by rain has not been given. Despite so many issues, a musical chairs competition is going on for the CM’s chair in Karnataka. If there is a cabinet expansion, DK Shivakumar will be sidelined. Visiting temples and worshiping It would be useless to do so.”
He said, “The issues of North Karnataka should be discussed from the very beginning in the Belagavi session. It should be told whether the issues discussed last time have been resolved. The issues of sugarcane farmers and law and order will be discussed. We will discuss it again with Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy.”
“I met farmers in Chamarajanagar and discussed crop compensation and other issues. Without giving compensation, blame is being put on the Central government. CM Siddaramaiah gives page-long speeches but does not give compensation.”
He said, “Without attending the GST committee meeting, without going to the meeting where the advice should be given, now he comes here and makes allegations. There is no use in talking now without using the available opportunities. CM Siddaramaiah alleges cheating after filing the petition and coming out.”
CM Siddaramaiah reached Delhi on Monday to meet AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and later Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Amid talks of cabinet reshuffle and leadership change, Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar and his brother former MP DK Suresh are also in Delhi. Shivakumar has said that there will be no reshuffle in the cabinet, while leaders of CM Siddaramaiah camp are confirming it.
