Kangana Ranaut meets BJP president, row erupts over Congress leader’s remarks

The BJP has fielded Kangana Ranaut from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh.

A day after Congress leader Supriya Shrinate posted what she called an “objectionable post” against her, actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday Chairman JP Nadda met the latter at his official residence in the national capital.

After meeting the BJP president, Kangana Ranaut posted on X that she would try her best for the progress of the Mandi constituency.

“Today I met the President of the State, His Excellency Jagat Prakash Nadda ji. I will always be grateful for his guidance and support and I will do my best to serve the people of my region. Progress and Prosperity Posted by Mandy Jai Shinde (Kangana Ranaut).” on X.

The BJP has fielded Kangana Ranaut from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, an allegedly objectionable post targeting actor Kangana Ranaut appeared on Congress leader Supriya Shrinate’s social media account. Amid the controversy, the BJP lashed out at the leader and demanded action against her.

A now-deleted post purporting to be Ranaut’s photo and the objectionable caption was posted by Congress social media chief Supriya Shrinate on Monday.

As the controversy intensified, Ms. Shrinath clarified that she would never make such personal and indecent comments about any woman.

“A lot of people have access to my Facebook and Instagram accounts. One of them posted an extremely inappropriate post today. I deleted the post as soon as I became aware of it. It’s also clear to everyone who knows me that I can never Personal and offensive comments about any woman. I want to know how this happened,” she said.

Additionally, the Congress leader mentioned that some parody accounts on X made the objectionable post.

Ms. Ranaut also hit out at the Congress leader, saying every woman deserves dignity.

“Dear Supriya ji, In the last 20 years of my career as an artist, I have played a variety of women. From an innocent girl in ‘Queen’ to a seductive spy in ‘Dhaakad’, from ‘Manikarnika’ from the goddess in ‘Chandramukhi’ to the demon in ‘Chandramukhi’, the whore of Rajjo to the revolutionary leader’s whore of Thalaivii,” Ms. Ranaut said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, party leader Sandeep Dixit on Tuesday said such language and remarks have no place, adding that Supriya Shrinate has clarified her stand and is looking into the matter further .

Congress leader Sandeep Dixit told a press conference, “Supriya has clarified that she is not involved in the matter. She is looking into the matter. There is no such language and the Congress is very clear on this issue.”
