Kang saw the 100th birth anniversary of former-MP assembly speaker Srinivas Tiwari in Reva

Rewa, September 18 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Congress on Wednesday saw the 100th birth anniversary of former Assembly Speaker (late) Srinivas Tiwari during an event held in Rewa district.

Former CM Digvijay Singh, party state president Jitu Patwari, Lop Umang Singh, former-Lopa Ajay Singh and senior Congress leaders including many MLAs and former ministers participated in the event.

On this occasion, a life-size statue of Srinivas Tiwari was unveiled in the city, and Congress leaders shared their views about the pre-moved, which his supporters called Rewa’s ‘Dada’ or ‘White Tiger’.

A tug-off-wise has been done between BJP and Congress to install Tiwari’s statue in Rewa, however, was resolved a day before the incident, and was finally unveiled.

The resolution of the dispute comes after the days of stress, the police had previously stopped the construction of a pedestal, citing land as their property.

Armed personnel were also deployed on the site. Interestingly, Siddharth Tiwari’s son Siddharth Tiwari’s son Siddharth Tiwari’s son Siddharth Tiwari’s son Siddharth is a BJP MLA from Reva’s Tonther Assembly seat.

Siddharth had shifted to the BJP before the assembly elections in 2023. Addressing the meeting of Congress workers on the occasion, Jitu Patwari said: “Srinivas Tiwari and his son and East-MP Sunderlal Tiwari were strong leaders of the Congress, and they were involved in the party’s ideology anytime.”

Srinivas Tiwari, who was born on 17 September, 1926 in Rewa district, was the Speaker of the Assembly during the Congress government led by Digvijay Singh between 1993 and 2003.

He ruled in Reva and in really in the entire Vindhya region. Many controversies are associated with him, including the mysterious death of a tribal child, but the appointment of 36 members of family and relatives in state government jobs provided national headlines.

Tiwari’s political career ended after losing against Girish Gautam of BJP from Mangavan Assembly seat in 2003. Gautam, a senior of the most living BJP, a senior of Devtelab seat, has also worked as the Speaker during the last term of former-CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Tiwari died at the age of 91 in 2018 at a hospital in New Delhi. After his death, the Congress gradually lost its ground in Rewa, once used for the party’s strong base.

In the 2023 assembly elections, Congress can win only one of the eight seats in the district – the limit of Mirzapur -Varanasi and Tragraj (first known as Allahabad) in Uttar Pradesh.
