It is being told that Kamal Nath was angry at not getting the Rajya Sabha seat.

New Delhi:

The Congress on Monday dismissed as “misinformation” speculations about party leader Kamal Nath joining the BJP and said the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister will participate in the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra in the state.

The statement by Jitendra Singh, Congress general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, comes amid speculation that Kamal Nath and his son, Lok Sabha MP Nakul Nath, may join the ruling BJP.

Singh said, “Kamal Nath ji is a senior leader of our party. All these speculations have been made by the BJP and the media. I had spoken to him yesterday and the day before yesterday and we had discussed the preparations for the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra.” Told reporters at the Congress headquarters here.

“I am going to Bhopal tomorrow and meetings are being held with MLAs, various committees and MPs. Kamal Nath ji will also attend those meetings and his suggestions for the yatra will be taken into consideration. Kamal Nath will participate prominently in the yatra. ” Madhya Pradesh,” the Congress general secretary said.

Asked about speculations about Nath and his son joining the BJP, Singh reiterated that “it is all speculation” and alleged that the BJP always tries to “spread false news and misinformation”.

He said that when the Nyaya Yatra enters the state later this month, Kamal Nath will participate in it “100 per cent”. “Preparations for the yatra are going on, he (Nath) is participating in it,” Singh said.

When asked about Chhindwara MP Nakul Nath, Singh said that he is a party MP and he will also participate in the yatra.

Kamal Nath reached Delhi on Saturday afternoon and during a brief conversation with journalists here, he asked them not to get excited. Asked if he was joining the BJP, Nath said, “If there is such a thing, I will inform you first.” An astute politician, Kamal Nath has worked with three generations of the Gandhi family. In 1979, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi described him as her third son.

It is said that Shri Nath is angry at not getting the Rajya Sabha seat. Also, it is understood that Rahul Gandhi is angry with Congress after its defeat in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections late last year.

Mr Nath was replaced as Congress’ Madhya Pradesh unit chief after the defeat in the assembly elections, in which the BJP retained power by winning 163 seats in the 230-member House. Congress managed to win only 66 seats.
