Hyderabad, Oct 12 (IANS) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday said the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election will be a decisive verdict on the “arrogance, corruption and deception” of the Congress party.
He said the people of Jubilee Hills are now facing a historic choice – between the car that builds (BRS election symbol) and the bulldozer that demolishes.
“Voters of Jubilee Hills have to decide – do they want the car that symbolizes development, or the bulldozer that demolishes poor people’s houses?” he asked, referring to the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Property Protection Agency (HYDRAA).
The BRS leader was addressing a meeting at Telangana Bhavan, where Cherka Mahesh, a senior BJP leader from Shekhpet division of Jubilee Hills constituency, joined BRS.
He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of turning the government into a symbol of greed and destruction, and said the Congress had failed to fulfill even a single guarantee made during the elections. “In two years, the Congress government has neither built a single house nor laid a single brick. Yet, it has borrowed Rs 2.3 lakh crore and is spending the looted money to buy votes in Jubilee Hills,” he alleged.
KTR said the Congress was offering Rs 10,000 per vote using money collected through corruption, and warned that people were angry over the betrayal of promises like pension, housing and fee reimbursement. “If Congress loses Jubilee Hills, it will finally learn its lesson. Only then will the promised pension of Rs 4,000 and other welfare schemes reach the people,” KTR said.
He also attacked the BJP, calling it “a party of no relevance in Telangana”, and warned voters that “voting for the Congress or the BJP is like throwing your vote down the drain.”
On the issue of backward class reservation, KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of deliberately misleading people. “He knew that the reservation law should be passed in Parliament, not in the Assembly. Still, he pretended to fool people,” he said.
KTR further alleged that the Chief Minister betrayed former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin on the MLC promise and even betrayed Muslims on the graveyard issue. KTR commented, “Cheating has become Revanth Reddy’s nature. He himself once said that people trust those who cheat them. This is the foundation of his politics.”
The BRS leader urged people to make Jubilee Hills the starting point of Hyderabad’s revival. “This by-election is not just about one seat – it is about the direction of Telangana,” he said.
