Kevin Willsey, global chairman of investment banking and capital markets at JPMorgan Chase & Company, is retiring after more than 30 years at Wall Street’s largest bank, according to a report from Bloomberg News.
Who is Kevin Willsey?
Willsey spent three decades at Wall Street’s second-largest bank. He was co-head of the lender’s North American investment banking business and led the global equity capital markets team before taking over as global chairman of investment banking and capital markets.
He will resign at the end of March, according to an internal company memo reviewed by Bloomberg News.
Under his leadership, JPMorgan became the top stock underwriter in 2008 and 2009, the memo shows. Willsey became global chairman in 2013 as part of a management overhaul.
“Intense race driver…”
“He will be known for his fierce competitive drive and willingness to dig deep,” said the memo from Doug Petno and Troy Rohrbaugh, co-heads of commercial and investment banking. He will be remembered for his willingness to guide through complex issues. ”
A JPMorgan representative confirmed the contents of the memo.
Last month, the company also announced that Jennifer Nason, global chair of investment banking, was also stepping down after nearly four decades at the bank.
