Union Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda on the anniversary of his death at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. Pushpak paid tribute to Syima Prasad Mukarji.
Sima Prasad Mukarji was the founder of the BJP’s ideological parents, Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He also worked as a minister of industry and supply in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet.
Addressing the party employees, Nadda highlighted the contribution of Mookerji to India’s unity and questioned his death circumstances in 1953.
“Due to ideological differences and Dr. Jawaharlal Nehru’s appeasement policy, Dr. Syima Prasad Mukarji resigned from his cabinet, and later he was one of the founding members of the Indian public relations. He opposed the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir,” said Nadda.
A staunch lawyer Mukarji protested against Article 370 for a united India, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Nadda said that in 1953, in Srinagar Jail, there was no one died under mysterious circumstances, and despite the demand of questioning his party and his mother, there was no one.
“He mysteriously died in Srinagar Jail on 23 June 1953. At that time, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh was very young. We raised their voice. The opposition said that there should be an inquiry. Sima Prasad Mukarji’s mother also wrote a letter to Jawaharlal Nehru that there should be an investigation about it, but it was not heard.
Meanwhile, Dr. Appreciating efforts on the anniversary of his death of Syima Prasad Mukarji, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday that the founder of the Jan Sangh roared like a lion and gave the slogan ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Samvidan’.
Delhi CM claimed that Dr. Mookerji pioneered the fight for India’s integrity even after independence. He mentioned that Saima Prasad Mukarji gave the slogan “Ye Kashmir Hamara Hai” and did not favor the concept of its separate constitution.
“The person who started a fight for the unity and integrity of the nation. There was a time when millions of freedom fighters lost their lives and struggled to make India independent. Even after India became independent, if there was a pioneer in the fight for the integrity of the country, it is as a lion as a lion. Vidhan Do Samvadhan will not work”, Delhi CM said this event.
According to the official website of the BJP, on the issue of Delhi Treaty with Liaqat Ali Khan, Mubajee resigned from the cabinet on 6 April 1950. Later, on October 21, 1951, Mookerjee founded the Bharti Jaan Sangh in Delhi and became the first President.
Mookerjee went to meet Kashmir in 1953 and was arrested on 11 May. He died in custody on 23 June 1953. (Ani)
