dave allen Arslanbek is enjoying a late resurgence in his boxing career, with a major bout against Makhmudov at the Sheffield Arena tonight.
Certainly a character, Allen has been accused of failing to live up to his potential, but the ‘White Rhino’ has taken a turn for the worse over the last 12 months. With excitement rising for the Yorkshireman once again, fans are wondering what might be next for Allen.
Fights with former world champions have been mentioned, but first Allen will have to deal with a tough opponent in Makhmudov. If he can, exciting contests await him.

deontay wilder

The career trajectory of Alan and deontay wilder Were completely different. Allen had recently lost to David Price, sending him back into obscurity, while Wilder was the reigning WBC world champion.
Of course, Wilder would lose his world title to Tyson Fury in early 2020, while Allen bounced back, scoring four consecutive knockouts before being stopped by Fraser Clark in 2023.
Previously undefeated, Wilder’s record since 2020 includes four losses and just two wins, leaving the American far from a world title race. Nevertheless, Allen being in talks to face the ‘Bronze Bomber’ still seems a bit unrealistic, and talks have been going on non-stop for the past few months.
Allen’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been the loudest source proposing the fight, and his tune has not changed in the build-up to the Makhmudov fight. He told Matchroom Boxing’s in-house media: “If Dave Allan beats Makhmudov, he sets himself up for some big fights.
“I personally like the Deontay Wilder fight. We’ve contacted Shelley Finkel (Wilder’s manager) to talk about it, but first let’s see what happens on October 11.”
Hearn and Allen’s comments suggest there is a strong possibility a fight could be made with Wilder – if the ‘White Rhino’ proves victorious.

anthony joshua

Allen, who is well-versed in the heavyweight division, not only knows his potential next opponent – but also how much of a fight he can make for his upcoming opponent, Makhmudov. Rumors suggest that Makhmudov’s victory over Allen will make the competition tougher. anthony joshuaWho fought the last battle in September 2024.
In an interview with Seconds Out this week, Allen was asked if he could potentially face AJ if he wins at the Sheffield Arena, alluding to Joshua-Makhmudov.
‘White Rhino’ shrugged off the link with a smile, but the fight meant something to both men.
Allen has said he is keen on a money-making bout, while Joshua will be looking for a tune-up to end their 12-month feud. AJ is still one of the biggest names in boxing, but guarantees a financially profitable fight, and Allen poses enough of a threat to generate intrigue without being a major threat to Joshua.
fraser clarke

Allen has made clear his ambitions beyond earning a little cash in the final years of his career. The Lonsdale Belt holds a special place in the hearts of many fight fans, and it’s no different for boxing fanatic Allen.
Although stranger things have happened, a world title shot seems out of reach for Allen at this stage of his career. Somehow, Allen has never challenged for the British Heavyweight title, and a shot at the Lonsdale belt seems very possible.
Currently vacant, we should see a new holder of the belt by the end of the month, when Fraser Clarke takes on Jamie Tykwer on Saturday, October 25. You would expect Allen to be eager to face anyone, but a Clark win would set up a much more interesting clash. Clarke forced Allen to retire in the sixth round of their meeting in 2023 and the latter may seek revenge.
Clarke himself has had to rebuild after drawing for the British and Commonwealth titles in 2024 and then losing to Fabio Wardley. A rematch between Clarke and Allen could easily take place at an arena or perhaps the Eco-Power Stadium, the ground of Allen’s hometown team Doncaster Rovers.
It almost feels like Allen is on a farewell tour, receiving praise from the British public after leading a boxing renaissance. Another fighter in the final stages of his career dereck chisoraWho had to give up the dream world-title fight for his 50th fight.
‘Del Boy’ will be in action before the end of 2025, which would put him on the same timeline as Allen. Both men have fought several fellow British veterans over the years, but have yet to face each other despite being similar opponents. Dillian Whyte got the better of each boxer, even defeating Chisora twice, while David Price was victorious over Allen but lost to ‘Del Boy’.

Allin himself has previously stated that he would be keen to face Chisora, saying in May this year: “I would like to do one or two more fights, and then we’ll see. Maybe a fight with Dereck Chisora could happen. For me, that would be a dream come true.
“He’s accomplished more than me, and he’s always been the better fighter. But in my opinion, this could be a great fight. We could even sell out the O2 Arena.
“Chisora is a bloody legend. It would be something incredible to get in the ring with him.
“And after that – the British title. Maybe it sounds too good to be true, but it’s what I dream of. I want it so badly.”
