Australia Winger Josh Addo-Carr insists wearing the Kangaroo jersey always brings out the best in players after securing an unassailable 2-0 lead. England in rugby league ash,

Australia achieved its first test win wembley Seven days later a hard-fought 14–4 win at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium against a much superior England team, who were on top during the first period.

Australia defended strongly before increasing their strength in attack with two tries in five minutes from Cameron Munster and Hudson Young.

Addo-Carr is one of the more senior figures in the Australia camp at 30 and has over 200 NRL games under his belt.

The winger has played 15 State of Origin matches and Saturday’s game was his ninth Test match in the green and gold.

He says Australia are the best in the business after restricting England to just one try in the first two Tests so far.

He said: “The most important thing is to fight for each other, we know we can score points. He scored a try last week and we were disappointed with it, so it was good not to let him score a try this week.

“We still have one more game to play and we have to try to prepare our best and hopefully get a whitewash, it’s going to be a tough game next week.

“We knew it was going to be a hostile environment, but when the pressure was on us the boys dug deep and stuck to the process and we got the result.

“We’ve got the best players in the world and Kevin (Walters) reminds us of that. But our bond from the beginning of camp until now shows how close we are as a group.

“They (England) are a difficult side. We didn’t do everything right but our struggle in defense was the biggest standout for us.

“This is the pinnacle of rugby league, the origins are huge but when you wear the Kangaroo jersey you are playing with the best players in the world, the best players in your position in the world.”

captain of england george williams They could not hide their frustration after failing to keep the Ashes alive in the first series between the two sides in 22 years.

He admitted England need to restore Jersey pride with victory in the third Test at Headingley next week.

He said: “We are going to try to get some pride back, we don’t want to be embarrassed by the 3-0.

“We have talked a lot about this series and there has been a lot of improvement, so hopefully we can get a feat on the board.

“Disheartened, we came to save the series so didn’t do it, a lot of guys were blown away there but we gave it our all.

“Avoid the embarrassment of losing 3-0, so there’s a lot riding on it, it’s a big event in this country, so it’s got to bring some pride back to the jersey.”
