Join Priyanka on a personal visit to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul, Wandead

Wayanad: Venad turned into a center of political activity on Friday as senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi arrived on a private visit, who joined Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who have been in their Lok Sabha constituencies since last week.

Priyanka, a newly-tied Wayanad MP since her victory in the November 2024 good-election, has visited the constituency since her victory, which she won with a large-scale majority.

In 2019 and 2024, he elected a seat after his brother and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who represented Wayanad, who chose to maintain the Rae Bareli constituency and resigned from Wayanad.

There is also a personal dimension in the Gandhi family visit.

For him, the Papanasini River of Wayanad has a deep spiritual and emotional significance because the ashes of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi were submerged in the holy stream three decades ago.

The Gandhi family is expected to pray there while staying in Wayanad.

While Sonia Gandhi’s program is private, Rahul Gandhi is expected to interact with local Congress leaders.

The inner sources in the party indicate that the family may hold extensive discussion with Kerala leaders, in view of the upcoming local body elections and the assembly elections to be held in April next year.

The Wayanad Congress unit has been under stress in recent months after the suicides of two senior district leaders.

A leader’s family publicly alleged that the state leadership inspired him to take extreme steps, causing restlessness within the party.

Against this background, the presence of the Gandhi family is being seen as both symbolic and strategic.

Security has been tightened in the vende, which has attracted significant public and political interests.

Gandhi is expected to stay in the constituency till Monday.

Rahul Gandhi’s visit also shows that when he decided to vacate the Wayanad seat and after winning the seat, she openly said that from now on, there will be two MPs on Vanad.
