John Oliver joins the voices Criticism of President Donald Trump to attend a Halloween Party at Mar-a-Lago On weekends, a few hours before a Vital food assistance program that millions of people depend on The Americans were going to make a mistake.

About 42 million people depend on it Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, But due to the ongoing government shutdown, funding for the crucial plan ended on November 1.

Meanwhile, Trump was seen enjoying a Halloween party at his Palm Beach residence, surrounded by guests in Roaring Twenties-style getups.

“Trump is going to have to face consequences here, and even though he kept blaming the Democrats for this shutdown, he somehow managed to make the situation even worse,” Oliver said during his inauguration speech on Sunday. Last week tonight.

The host then showed CNN’s coverage of Trump’s Halloween party, in which the anchor described the great Gatsby As a book “about rich people partying.”

“Yes, it is not only very insulting,” he said. “I’m guessing it’s pretty infuriating for a tired high school freshman to write a 4,000-word essay about great Gatsby As a sobering meditation on the disillusionment of the American dream, only for CNN to tell him, ‘You know what? It’s really a book about rich people partying.”

Oliver continued: “And for what it’s worth, the real theme of that event was, and I quote, ‘A little party never killed anybody.’ And I think that’s true. However, it is also true, that as we are all finding out now, a ‘oldest party’ is capable of killing a lot of people, and unfortunately, they don’t mince a single marble and gold-encrusted word about it.

Responding to the criticism, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said Independent That the Democrats are “full of it.”

“President Trump has consistently called on them to do the right thing and reopen the government, which they can do at any time,” Kelly said. “Unfortunately, Gavin Newscom, Chuck Schumer and congressional Democrats would rather focus on providing health care for illegal immigrants than protecting American citizens from suffering.”

Legal challenges mounted on Friday as one federal judge ordered Trump to release emergency funding for SNAP before the Nov. 1 cutoff, while another ruled that the government was possibly withholding the emergency money illegally.

Trump said he wanted the courts to “make clear” how he can legally fund the program “as quickly as possible” and he blamed Democrats for the funding lapse.

“I don’t want Americans to go hungry just because radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and reopen the government,” he posted on Truth Social on Halloween.

Trump said, “If we are given the appropriate legal direction by the court, it would be my honor to provide funding, as I did with military and law enforcement salaries.”

SNAP funds, distributed monthly by the federal government to states, support the nation’s largest anti-hunger program, serving millions of families, with the majority of recipients being children and seniors.

Recipients receive about $188 per person per month, or about $6 per day, administered on a prepaid card that can be used for grocery store staples.

If that money is not distributed, it will be the first time in SNAP’s 60-year history that the federal government has let it lapse.
