The company also announced that although the points collected elsewhere would be cut, customers will get triple points at John Lewis Department Store and will be online in August in the next three years.
A spokesperson from John Lewis said: “Our awards are being updated to help maintain our market-component prize to spend in John Lewis and Wetroz, where customers earn 1.25 per cent back at every pound spent.
“The expenditure on shopping made somewhere else will earn 0.1 percent from 1 August.
“These changes enable us to invest in awards that are the most valuable by our customers – to help customers score additional marks in August with a new bonus.”
The retailer said that its card had “many other benefits” and it was “adding more to you all the time”. These included double-point publicity, competitions and special proposals from their partners.
The low point system for spending in other stores suit supermarkets such as Sansbury and other popular cards introduced by Tesco.
This is not the first time John Lewis has reduced the proposals on his card.
In 2020, the retailer reduced the number of points that the shopkeepers could get from one point to one point elsewhere, which was spent up to a £ 2 in each £ 4.
