San Francisco, U.S:
U.S. President Joe Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “crazy SOB” at a public fundraiser in California on Wednesday.
“We have crazy SOBs like Putin and others and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is the climate,” Biden said in brief remarks at the event in San Francisco to a small group of reporters. .
In a hot-mic gaffe in January 2022, Biden similarly called a Fox News reporter a “son of a bitch.”
Biden has previously called the Russian president, who ordered the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, a “butcher” and a “war criminal” on other occasions.
The United States will announce a package of tough new sanctions on Friday over the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in prison, Biden said.
At the fundraiser, Biden also attacked his November election opponent, Donald Trump, for comparing his legal woes to Navalny’s fate.
“If I had stood here 10 to 15 years ago and said all of this, you would have thought I should have made the commitment,” Biden said.
