New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS) In the wake of the deadly blast in Delhi, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Wednesday issued an urgent advisory to Kashmiri students across the country after receiving multiple reports of profiling, harassment and sudden eviction from hostels and rented accommodation.
The association expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property in the attack and reiterated that Kashmiris have always stood firmly against terrorism and have shown solidarity towards the families of the victims.
However, JKSA warned that many Kashmiri students are facing aggressive verification campaigns, intimidating interrogations and disturbances in hostels following the incident.
In some cases, students were reportedly asked to vacate their rooms without any notice, causing widespread anxiety among those studying away from home. National coordinator Nasser Khuhami urged students to remain extremely cautious during the current sensitive environment.
He advised them to avoid unnecessary travel, public gatherings and politically charged discussions both in person and on social media. He cautioned that routine online comments could be misinterpreted amid heightened tensions.
Students were also asked to keep their families informed and report any incidents of harassment by the police, landlords or residents. To provide immediate assistance, the association released a list of 24×7 helpline numbers from which students in distress can seek help.

Khuehmi said a quick-response coordination team has been activated and is in contact with universities, police stations and state authorities across the country.
He said that the matter against illegal eviction or intimidation will be taken up with the concerned authorities without any delay.
The association also condemned the increase in misinformation and communal speculation on social media and said such stories are increasing fear among Kashmiri youth.
JKSA said, “Collective doubt does not strengthen national security. Justice, fairness and unity do.”
National General Secretary Adil Bhat stressed that Kashmiri students have consistently contributed to India’s academic and professional sectors and should not be criminalized or stereotyped.
They urged authorities to ensure their safety and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue public assurances to prevent further stigmatization and restore confidence on campuses.
