Shopian, May 26, KDC: In an important step towards environmental stability and empowerment at the grassroots level, JKRLM Shopian in collaboration with Forest Department Shopian launched a large -scale tree plantation campaign under the theme “One SHG member, One Suppling”.
This initiative saw enthusiastic participation from members of the Self Help Group (SHG) in all community development blocks of the district.
Hundreds of plants were planted in rural pockets, strengthening a powerful message of community ownership and collective climate action.
The Divisional Forest Office ensured complete logistics and technical assistance for the campaign, including provisions for high quality plant and specialist plantation guidance to SHG members.
This green initiative aligns with a broad mission of integrating sustainable livelihood with ecological protection with widespread missions of JKRLM and contributes meaningfully to achieve the United Nations SDG.
JKRLM Shopian is planning to repeat and expand this model across the district to deepen community participation in environmental leadership and flexibility-making efforts, in partnership with the Forest Department. (KDC)
