In an important step towards curbing plastic pollution, the District Office of Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC), Srinagar conducted an enforcement raid for the seizure of 3.50 MT of prohibited polythene material.
JKPCC Srinagar’s enforcement team conducted a stunning inspection in the Tengpora area, coordinating with local authorities.
During the operation, adequate amounts of restricted polyethylene were seized under the provisions of plastic waste management rules, 2016 was seized for safe settlement as per the environmental norms prescribed.
Speaking on the occasion, District Officer, JKPCC Srinagar reiterated that the use, storage and distribution of prohibited polythene leads to serious environmental consequences and violates the existing restrictions orders. He urged traders, shopkeepers and general public to adopt environmentally friendly options and contribute to the fight against plastic pollution.
