Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Tuesday gave External Affairs Minister for immediate withdrawal of Kashmiri students trapped in Iran. S. Reiterated his immediate appeal for Jaishankar as the conflict between Iran and Israel intensified, pushing the region to the verge of war on a full scale.
The association raised an alarm over the deteriorating security situations, warning that hundreds of Indian students, mostly trapped between the ongoing air strikes, missile barrage and widespread fear from Jammu and Kashmir. The association said that many of these students went to Iran to carry forward cost-effective MBBS programs, but are now facing the circumstances of life-threatening.
Association national convenor Nasir Khoumi said that students are nominated in military bases and colleges close to strategic infrastructure, making them extremely weak. He revealed that many students are living in cities where direct Israeli attacks have already taken place. The students have reported to listen to missile sounds, experience the ground shock and look at a heavy military movement. He said that he is constantly living in fear and psychological trauma, to communicate with limited means, he said.
The situation is complicated by severely disrupted internet services in Iran. The students told the association, “It takes three to four minutes for the same WhatsApp message.” He said, “We can clearly hear missile sounds from here. The Internet is below, and we are unable to contact our families back home. They are nervous, and so we are,” they quoted the students. The students informed us that “We want the Indian embassy to vacate us from the road, because the airport is closed and we do not know how long this situation will last.”
The association also referred to a serious incident near the Huzjatostostostry of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, where two Kashmiri students were injured in a nearby attack on Sunday evening. Both have been taken to a safe residence in Ramsar since then and have been reported to be stable.
Given the rapid deteriorating crisis, the association urged the Foreign Minister to immediately transfer all Kashmiri students within Iran to safe areas, at least until the Government of India started a complete withdrawal operation to re -prepare its citizens. “This phased and active rehabilitation strategy is required,” Khoomi said, “As the struggle can be a devastating result if the struggle moves or air travel becomes impossible.”
The association called upon the Government of India to coordinate with Iranian officials and international humanitarian agencies to ensure the safety and safe route of Indian citizens. “The life and goodness of our students is on the line. Kashmir and all over India require immediate action to assure hundreds of concerned families, who are spending every minute in anxiety and helplessness.”
He urged the Ministry of External Affairs that he considering the matter as a national priority, “These students are our common responsibility. Their safe transfer and return should not be delayed even more.”
