J&K: Rusty Mortar found in Shell Akhnoor, defined by police and army

A suspected, rusty mortar shell was seen by villagers near Dhaleri village in Akhnoor. Local people immediately informed the Jammu and Kashmir Police about the search.

On receiving the information, both Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army reached the spot. The teams closed the area where the mortar shell was found and secured the surrounding area. The army bomb settlement squad then examined the shell and successfully defined it.

Meanwhile, the army has a new CCTV camera to monitor any anti-national activity in view of the Baba Buddha Amarnath Yatra which has been running in the Ponch sector since July 28.

CCTV cameras are installed with a stretch of 15 km, which leads to the pilgrimage site in Mandi, Poonach. For the yatra, these devotees will come under the banner of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad from different parts of India.

A resident named Rashid thanked the Indian Army and mentioned that these cameras were necessary, “I would like to thank the Indian Army for installing these cameras, and now everything about the journey can be tracked.”

Taking forward, Rashid said, “Now the journey will be successful and we will be able to keep track of people and their wrongdoings. Finally, I would like to thank security for taking this initiative.”

Abdul, another resident of Mandi, said, “We want this year’s journey to be better than before. It is also a symbol of brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims. I am very happy about CCTV camera installation. Now, the journey will be safe and safe, and no wrong person can enter. If someone tries to run or hide somewhere, they will be easily caught due to these cameras.
