JK RowlingMo Salah and Harry Styles are among the UK’s 100 biggest taxpayers, according to the Sunday Times annual tax payer list.

The Warrington-based business, founded by Fred and Peter Done in 1967, paid an estimated £400.1 million in tax last year, according to the list.

It comes after their tax bill increased by almost half from £273.4m a year ago.

The list shows that the total tax paid by the top 100 taxpayers was 5.758 billion pounds, up from 4.985 billion pounds in the same period last year.

Financial trading entrepreneur Alex Gerko came in second with a tax bill of £331.4m, followed by hedge fund boss Chris Rokos, who paid £330m.

Elsewhere, former One Direction member-turned-solo artist Styles is one of the new entrants, paying £24.7m in tax.

Two footballers also appear on the list for the first time, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, ranked 72nd on the list, with an estimated tax bill of £16.9 million, and Liverpool’s Salah believed to have a tax bill of £14.5 million.

Other big names on the list include Harry Potter author Rowling, 36, who is worth £47.5million, and musician Ed SheeranAged 64, paid £19.9m in tax.

Six taxpayers are still on the list, despite reports that six taxpayers have left the UK in the past year, amid reports that wealthy people have relocated to avoid higher taxes under Labor or as a result of the removal of non-resident status.

These include Revolut founder Nik Storonsky, Wren Kitchens founder Malcolm Healey and sports promoter Eddie Hearn.

Mr Watts said: “One in nine people on the tax rolls are no longer classed as UK residents but choose to live in Morocco, Dubai, Switzerland, Cyprus, Portugal, the US and the Channel Islands.

“Obviously expatriate taxpayers are still providing huge sums of money to the HM Treasury through their businesses, but if these people choose to stay put and continue to bear personal tax, the chancellor will undoubtedly raise more money from these people.”
