J&K public distribution system or orders for inclusion of 6 -year -old children, widows, divorce

Web Desk, 06/05/2025

Rinagar, May 6: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has directed to include children in the Public Distribution System (PDS), six and above children with leftist eligible beneficiaries, which is according to a new order issued by the Department of Food Department, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.

According to the government order, children receiving the age of six years have to be included in the respective ration categories Aay, PHH, NPH, or exclusion under family ration cards or houses. Additionally, any qualified person released from PDS will now be covered under existing criteria.

The order also stated that the case already involved in the PDS will be provided a separate ration card under the applied categories, based on the financial situation and in line with the National Food Security Act (NFSA) rules.

This decision is aimed at ensuring comprehensive coverage and support for all qualified citizens under the public distribution system in J&K. (KDC)
