Srinagar, Nov 13 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said it has approached Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against a native of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district who was involved in the interstate white-collar terror module recently caught in Haryana’s Faridabad.
Dr Muzaffar is the brother of Dr Adil Rather, who was arrested following the recovery of an AK-47 rifle from his locker at the Government Medical College, Anantnag.
Incidentally, he had left his job in this medical college in October 2024.
Dr. Muzaffar’s name came up during the interrogation of the arrested people. Interrogations revealed that he was part of the team of doctors visiting Turkiye in 2021 along with Muzammil Ganeyi and Omar Nabi who drove off a car packed with explosives outside the Red Fort on Monday, killing 12 people and injuring dozens of others.
The police immediately tried to trace Dr. Muzaffar, but found out that he had left India and gone to Dubai in August. It is believed that he is currently in Afghanistan. Police said Dr. Muzammil Ghani, Dr. Mohammad Omar and Dr. Muzaffar were in Turkiye for 21 days.
On Wednesday, Turkiye’s communications directorate issued a statement countering disinformation and denying reports that its territory was being used for radicalization.
“Media reports claiming that Turkiye is linked to terrorist acts in India and providing military, diplomatic and financial support to terrorist groups are part of a malicious disinformation campaign aimed at damaging bilateral relations,” Turkiye’s communications directorate said.
Terror module busted In a coordinated operation by Jammu and Kashmir Police and Haryana Police, an interstate white-collar terror module was busted in Faridabad, which was planning to carry out terrorist incidents in Delhi.
One of its members, Dr. Mohammad Omar, escaped arrest and was later killed in a blast near the Red Fort in Delhi while traveling in a car with explosives.
