J&K LG pays tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 130th birth anniversary

Srinagar, 23 September (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh on his 130th birth anniversary on Tuesday.

LG said on his X, “Paid tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh ji to his birth.

After the cancellation of Article 370 and in two union regions, the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh was declared a public holiday.

After 1947, Dr. of Maharaja Hari Singh, Dr. Karan Singh, Regent and became the head of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, called ‘Sadar-e-Riyasat’.

In 1964, Dr. Karan Singh became the first governor of Jammu and Kashmir.

Dogra Maharaja ruled J&K after Maharaja Gulab Singh signed the Treaty of Amritsar with the British in 1846. Maharaja Gulab Singh was the first Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir and the founder of the Dogra dynasty.

Originally a commander of the Sikh Empire, he first biased with the British in the Anglo-Sikh war and briefly became Prime Minister of the Sikh Empire in 1846.

In the same year, he signed the Treaty of Amritsar with the British, established the state of Jammu and Kashmir under the Suri of the British Raj; This treaty formalized the transfer of all lands that were quoted by the British by the Sikhs in the Treaty of Lahore.

Maharaja Gulab Singh was made successful by Maharaja Ranbir Singh, followed by Maharaja Pratap Singh and then the last Dogra Maharaja, Hari Singh.

In 1923, after the death of his uncle, Hari Singh became the new Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir.

After India’s independence in 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh accused India for receiving the support of Indian soldiers against the invasion of Pakistan’s tribal armed men.

Hari Singh remained the state title Maharaja till 1952, when the monarchy was abolished by the Government of India.

After spending his last day in Mumbai, he died on 26 April 1961.

Paying tribute to a former member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, his grandfather, Vikramaditya Singh, wrote on X, “Congratulations and congratulations and best wishes to all the residents of Jammu and Kashmir honored anniversary for Maharaja Hari Singh’s Jammir!”
