Srinagar, Nov 1 (IANS) The Jammu and Kashmir government is actively considering regularizing daily wage earners while the recruitment process for 800 vacant posts of veterinary doctors is underway, the Assembly was informed on Saturday.
Jammu and Kashmir General Administration Department (GAD), in a written reply to a question, said the issue of regularizing daily wage earners, casual laborers and need-based employees in various government departments is under consideration of a high-level committee headed by the Chief Secretary.
The committee is examining all administrative, financial and legal aspects related to the regularization process, it said, adding that the Finance Department is also being consulted to assess the financial implications.
GAD further confirmed that 1,00,501 such employees have already been registered through the Aadhaar-based biometric identification system to ensure transparency and eliminate duplication in records.
The Government reiterated its commitment to develop a sustainable and equitable framework to address the long pending demands of casual and daily wage employees in all departments.
Meanwhile, the Department of Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries informed the Assembly that it has expanded veterinary infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, with more than 800 veterinary centers and dispensaries functioning in rural and semi-urban areas.
The department, in its written reply, said that several posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and Livestock Development Officers are vacant, but the recruitment process has been started to ensure proper coverage.
The government said cattle farmers and breeders are getting assistance under centrally sponsored schemes including National Livestock Mission (NLM), Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), and Integrated Sheep Development Scheme (ISDS).
It said mobile veterinary units are being deployed in remote areas to provide home health care for livestock, with additional support through vaccination drives and artificial insemination services.
