J&K: Duspeated foreign national by Katra police for illegal entry

Officials said on Saturday that a suspected foreign national was arrested by the Katra police of Jammu and Kashmir without legitimate travel documents to illegally enter Indian territory.

According to officials, on July 11, during the deployment of a flying squad, the police party from the police station Katra led by Station House Officer Qhajuria was performing regular investigation duties.

The statement said, “In about 1400 hours, when the team reached Asia Chowk, they saw a suspect to hide themselves when the police’s presence was noticed. Alert police personnel immediately stopped him,” the statement said.

Police said a Bangladeshi ID card was recovered from a person identified as MD Fahim Ahmed during fringing. However, he failed to produce any legitimate travel documents, visas or passports to justify his presence in India.

Initial investigation revealed that the person had entered the Indian territory through unauthorized means, violating immigration laws.

The entire operation was organized under the leadership of Deputy Divisional Police Officer Katra Bhisham Dubey, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Superintendent of Police, Katra Vipin Chandra, JKP led by Inspector Katra Police Station, Inspector Khyatiman Khajuria.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rasi, Paramavir, reiterated that Rasi District Police is committed to ensuring security and security of the district and urges the citizens to be vigilant and the nearest police unit to report any suspicious activity.

FIR number 200/2025 U/S14A (B) of Foreign Act, 1946 has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway to detect their illegal entry and the motive behind the possible link.

Earlier on July 9, in Delhi, the Operations Cell of the South West District Police caught five Bangladeshi citizens including a woman and 40 -day -old baby to live illegally in Delhi.

According to officials, the group was detected at different places, and after the completion of all the necessary legal formalities, fresh exile in coordination with Fro, Delhi has been initiated. (AI)
