On an important occasion, Jammu and Kashmir has been awarded the Gold Medal (Category B) in the States (Category B) in the National One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024.
The prestigious ceremony was held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragi Maidan, New Delhi, which was marked in the second consecutive year that J&K received this respected honor for its outstanding efforts in advancing ODOP initiative.
The incident, which celebrates India’s vibrant cultural heritage, rich diversity, traditional craftsmanship and entrepreneurial excellence, saw heavy response with 641 applications of 587 districts, 31 states/UTS and 23 Indian missions abroad.
Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary Industry and Commerce and Sudarson Kumar, Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Trade Progress Organization (JKTPO), received the award from J&K government.
JKTPO, as a nodal agency for ODOP in the region, has played an important role in promoting local ODOP products, which performs a strong commitment to the initiative.
In addition to the gold medal of Jammu and Kashmir, Pulwama district won a silver medal in Category A (Agriculture), while Genderbal district was awarded a silver medal in Category B (Non-Krishi).
Dr. Bashrat Qayum, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama and Jatin Kishore, Deputy Commissioner, Genderbal, accepted the awards from their districts.
The ODOP National Awards recognized excellence in various categories, including Districts Awards (Agriculture), Districts Awards (Non-Krishi), States (Category A), States (Category B) and Missions abroad.
The ceremony celebrated India’s progress towards self -sufficiency, along with understanding the excellence of J&K in advancing ODOP initiative.
The visionary leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Chaudhary has played an important role in the success of Jammu and Kashmir, which is showing deep commitment to the economic and cultural development of the region.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal congratulated the award winners and urged them to promote Odop products by benefiting local weavers, artisans and farmers.
The Jammu and Kashmir trade promotion organization will continue to demonstrate its commitment to its growth. It has prepared a comprehensive plan to intensify the promotion of ODOP products in J&K, focusing on unique offerings of each district. With government support, JKTPO, ODOP will increase the visibility, market access and recognition, will run economic development and empowerment in the UT.
