J&K: 12th batch of devotees departs from Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam for Amarnath Yatra

Web Desk, 14/07/2025

The 12th batch of devotees departed from the Nanwan Base Camp in Pahgam for a pilgrimage in Shri Amarnath ji’s holy cave on Monday morning.

A devotee from Mumbai said, “We are seven members. We are coming for the first time. Proper arrangements have been provided for food and sleep, but due to rain, we are facing trouble. People are good. We will pray for the welfare of the people of Maharashtra.”

Another devotee said that this is his sixth journey. He praised the security arrangements here.
“I have come from Maharashtra and this is his sixth journey. I have come here with 98 people. Last year I came with 150 people. I will come here every year. The arrangements are very good. There is a lot of enthusiasm. We will pray for peace in the world.

People are very helpful in Kashmir. People should come here without any fear. The security system is very good, ”said another devotee.

On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that the ongoing Amarnath Yatra has crossed the 2-mill mark, the devotees continued the holy cave pilgrimage.

In a post on X, LG Sinha expressed his happiness and said, “With the blessings of Baba Amarnath ji, the Holy Pilgrimage has crossed the 2 lakh mark today. This is a holy journey of a lifetime, and I welcome all the devotees and welcome all the devotees to experience and experience divinity. Har Har Mahadev!”

The 38-day annual Amarnath pilgrimage at the 3,880 meter high holy cave temple in South Kashmir began on 3 July and will end on 9 August.

The pilgrimage is taking place simultaneously through both the Pahgam Marg (Anantnag District) and the Baltal Route (Genderbal District).

The Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage for the Amarnath cave, where devotees pay homage to a snow stalgmite, which is considered the lingam of Lord Shiva.

Stelagmite of ice is formed every year during the summer months and reaches its maximum size in July and August, when thousands of Hindu devotees perform an annual pilgrimage to the cave.

The Indian Army has launched ‘Operation Siva 2025’ in a close coordination with civil administration and Central Armed Police Forces to ensure smooth and safe conduct of Amarnath Yatra.

The purpose of this annual high-existing operation is to provide a strong security architecture with both the northern and southern travel routes, especially in the light of an increased threat from the Pakistan-supported screen after the operation vermilion.

As part of this year’s increased security structure, more than 8,500 soldiers have been deployed, supported by a wide range of technical and operational resources. A dynamic counter-attentive grid, anti-pathogram safety and corridor conservation measures have been installed.

Civil officers are also being provided extensive assistance, especially in disaster management and emergency response.

The Indian Army’s efforts include the installation of a counter-UAS grid with each 50 C-UAS and EW system to neutralize drone hazards. (AI)
