A Delhi-based app developer reportedly bought the rights to the JioHotstar domain and asked Reliance and Viacom18 to fund his college tuition, and sold it to two siblings in Dubai.

The app developer has sold the domain to 13-year-old Jainam Jain and 10-year-old Jivika Jain.

The children have updated the website with this information.

“Even though we are just kids, we believe age is just a number when it comes to spreading kindness and positivity,” they said in a note on their website.

They spent their summer vacation in India and used the money raised from their trip to buy the JioHotstar domain name from the app developer.

“Our most recent journey began during the summer holidays when we left our home in Dubai and traveled to India for 50 unforgettable days,” they said.

“When we returned to Dubai, we used part of the collection to support a young software developer from Delhi, purchasing the domain for his benefit,” the note said.

They also informed that the domain name would be available for sale in the future.

The description further adds: “By sharing our journey here, our goal is to inspire others and keep the domain open for future sale to anyone who wants to continue this positive mission.”

About the siblings

Jainam and Jivika started their YouTube channel in 2017, where they often unpack toys and play with their family and friends. Later, they shifted their focus to scientific content. They soon plan to launch a podcast with some well-known celebrities.

The anonymous app developer known as “The Dreamer” had reportedly approached Reliance and Viacom18 to buy the JioHotstar domain for over £10 million to fund his studies in advanced business administration at the prestigious Cambridge University in the UK Master’s degree. However, Reliance and Viacom18 did not respond to his request, news agency PTI reported.

Reliance and Viacom have not officially confirmed18.

The app developer reportedly purchased the domain after hearing rumors that Jio Cinema and Hotstar could merge in 2023.
