Ranchi, Nov 17 (IANS) Hundreds of candidates, frustrated over the long delay in recruitment results, launched a ‘Satyagraha’ outside the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) headquarters here on Monday.
The protesters demanded immediate release of the long pending exam results.
The protesting candidates said that more than a year has passed since the examination was conducted for the posts like Food Safety Officer and Child Development Project Officer (CDPO).
Despite repeated appeals, the Commission has neither declared the results nor given any clarity on when they will be published.
The candidates said that the recruitment cycle has been extended beyond 2023. The main exam was to be conducted in 2024, but the results have been withheld without any official explanation.
“The entire exam calendar has collapsed. We have been living in uncertainty for months,” said a candidate at the protest site.
A delegation of protesters met JPSC officials in the afternoon. According to the candidates, officials once again assured them that the results would be out “soon”, but no written commitment or specific deadline was provided.
“For months we have been hearing the same verbal assurances. We will not end our protest until the Commission makes a formal, written announcement,” said one candidate.
Many candidates raised questions over the lack of transparency regarding the delay. He claimed that the evaluation of answer sheets has already been completed and there is no technical hurdle.
A protesting student said, “If the examinations are over and evaluation has been completed, then who is stopping the commission from publishing the results? This silence raises serious questions.”
Many candidates said that the long wait is affecting their chances in future recruitment cycles. With the age limit approaching for many categories, candidates fear that they may miss out on upcoming opportunities due to uncertainty around the JPSC recruitment deadline.
The protest remained peaceful, with protesters chanting “Give results, JPSC!” Like raised slogans. and “Declare our future!”
The participants described their agitation as a Satyagraha and said that they would continue it indefinitely until a definite date for declaring the results was announced.
Till now no official statement has been issued by Jharkhand Public Service Commission.
