According to the report of Bhaskar English, on Friday night, Mukesh Jha, the main accused in this case, was shot and arrested by the police. Jha, who was on the run for several days, was injured in the leg during a brief encounter and was admitted to the hospital.
The accused told the police that he and the victim were in a relationship for seven years and they had also got married in a temple. But five months ago, she broke the relationship after she grew close to another man.
According to the police, Jha targeted Anita on January 4, the date of her wedding anniversary. He confessed that his plan was to persuade her to return to him, with the premeditated intention of killing her if she refused.

Following the complaint of Anita’s husband, the police had registered a case against three people Mukesh Jha, Shivam and Manoj. While Shivam and Manoj were immediately taken into custody, Jha initially fled.
After this, they parked their car at the Notghat bridge over the Betwa river, but there was no trace of them, NDTV reported.
Jha opened fire on the officers during the confrontation that took place around midnight yesterday. In retaliatory firing, he was shot in the leg and was later taken into custody.
The accused has been admitted to the medical college. The officers also recovered a pistol and cartridges from Jha.
