Tributes are flooding Twitter for Jeff Timmer’s son Mekbul who has sadly passed away this week.

His death was confirmed by Jeff and Mattie in a statement shared by his political action committee The Lincoln Project on March 7th.

At the time of writing this, his cause of death is unknown.

A devastating statement posted by The Lincoln Project has revealed that Jeff Timmer’s teenage son has died.

Mekbul Timmer was a high school student and was the political activist’s youngest child, the Twitter post revealed.

“We are devastated by the tragic death of our youngest child. Mekbul Timmer was a high school senior loved and admired by everyone who knew him,” his parents wrote.

“Please just love your kids and those close to you,” they continued.

Hours later, Jeff’s wife Mattie then wrote: “The outpouring of love and sympathy we have received are giving us the moments of grace we need to navigate this unspeakable grief.”

“To everyone who has reached out to us in any small way, we thank you. @jefftimmer,” she added.

Jeff Timmer is a senior adviser at The Lincoln Project.

The Lincoln Project is an American political action committee formed in late 2019 by a group of former Republicans.

It was created to prevent the re-election of Donald Trump and stop Republicans from getting re-elected in the senate during the 2020 presidential election.

He was formerly the executive director of the Michigan Republican Party, but is now an Independent.

On Twitter, the Michigan-native describes himself as a “strategist,” “erstwhile GOPer” and “Senior Advisor”.

He also co-founded Republicans & Independents for Biden, a group established to support President Biden, has a degree in International Relations from Michigan State University and has his own podcast.

Just hours after the statement was shared, Jeff took to his own Twitter page to post about his grief.

“Grief therapist advises spending as much time as I can tolerate doing something I’d normally do. TRANSLATION: I am about to flame the flying f*** out of anyone and anything I possibly can on this here Twitter app,” he wrote.

Many people have been paying tribute to Mekbul in the comments, with one person close to him writing:

“You, @MattieTimmer and your entire family have been and will continue to be in my thoughts. Please let me know if you need anything…I deliver a mean cup of coffee and take special requests for meals. Sending you all of the love and support.”

“A grief therapist helped me immeasurably after my son’s death. I hope you get some tools and relief,” said another.

A third person added: “I’m so sorry Jeff. My heart breaks for you and your boy.”
