JEE Main 2023: Over 95% attendance recorded on first and second day of exam – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The first two day of JEE (Main) 2023 January session conducted in four shifts recorded over 95% attendance. While on day one the attendance was 95.7%, on day two it was 96.4%. Of the 254 cities where the test was conducted on day one, 12 recorded 100% attendance, while on the second day on Wednesday 17 recorded 100% attendance.
According to the National Testing Agency, the examination is being conducted in about 574 centres. The first day of the examination (January 24, 2023) was conducted for 1,45,262 candidates in 395 examination centres throughout 254 cities across 34 States/ UTs in both shifts.
In both shifts, Andhra Pradesh had maximum numbers of candidates (20,066) followed by Maharashtra (17249). For shift 1, 68,828 candidates appeared out of 72,498 whereas in shift 2, 69,632 candidates were present out of 72,764. Overall attendance for both shifts is 95.7%.
The second day of JEE (Main) – 2023 on Wednesday was conducted for 1,51,315 candidates in 405 Examination Centres throughout 252 Cities across 33 States/ UTs in both shifts.
On the second day in both shifts, Andhra Pradesh had maximum numbers of candidates (19,173) with 40 centres followed by Maharashtra (16,841) with 53 centres. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Puducherry, and Sikkim had one centre each.
For shift 1, 72,866 candidates appeared out of 76,059 whereas in shift 2, 72,373 candidates were present out of 75,110. Overall attendance for both shifts is 96.4%.
A total of 8,60,058 candidates registered for the JEE (Main) January 2023 exam to be conducted on January 24, 25, 27, 29, 30, 31 January and February 1.
The exam was being conducted in 13 languages — English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
JEE-Main is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at NITs, IIITs, other centrally funded technical institutions, and institutions or universities funded or recognised by participating state governments. It is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.
