Jayashankar Thanks to the Korean counterpart, after the Pahalgam attack, there is a need to combat terrorism

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday interacted with his South Korean counterpart Cho Tae-Yul over the phone. During the talks, Jaishankar underlined the need to combat terrorism in all forms and expressions.

Jishankar thanked him for the support and solidarity of South Korea in light of a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a post shared on X, Jaishankar said, “Talked with @fmchotayey of South Korea this morning. Pahgam in the light of the terror attack thanks to the support and solidarity of Rok. Thanks to the need to combat terrorism in all forms and manifestations.”

26 people were killed and several others were injured in the Pahalgam attack on 22 April, when terrorists attacked tourists at Besaran Meadow in Pahalgam.

After the attack, India has strongly protested against Pakistan to support cross -border terrorism. At the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 April, India decided to hold the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty in 1960 in the 1960s, until Pakistan reliably and unchanged ends its support for terrorism and close the integrated attic closes.

India has also declared officers of the personality of the Pakistani High Commission as non -adults and ordered them to leave India within a week.

Additionally, the central government decided to cancel any visa issued under the SARC Visa Rebate Scheme (SSES) and ordered Pakistani officials to leave the country within 48 hours.

India has also suspended visa services for Pakistani citizens, immediately effective. All the existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani citizens will be effectively canceled from April 27, 2025, as a press release said by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured the country that the terrorists responsible for this attack, as well as those who had conspired to do it, will face punishment beyond their imagination.

Speaking at a meeting in Madhubani, Bihar on 24 April, PM Modi announced, “The terrorists responsible for this attack, as well as those who hatched it, will face the punishment beyond imagination,” emphasizing that it is time to eliminate the remaining strongholds of terrorism.

The PM insisted, “The will of 140 crore Indians will now break the backbone of criminals of terror.” He also confirmed that every person who believes in humanity stands with India during these times.

He further said, “We will identify, track and punish every terrorist, their handlers and their backers, take them to the end of the earth. India’s soul will never be broken from terrorism, and terrorism will not ensure that every effort will be made to ensure justice, and is firm in this solution against terrorism across the country.” (AI)
