Japan’s Defense Minister joins Pete Hegseth for early morning gym workout

Peter Heggs and Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi He participated in an early morning workout at an Army base in Virginia on Thursday (January 15).

The two officers were seen lifting weights, doing push-ups and rowing with troops at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington.

The joint exercise comes ahead of a scheduled meeting at the Pentagon later Thursday.

In his opening remarks, Junichiro Koizumi said he believed the joint exercise was “a symbol of the U.S.-Japan alliance.” This is the second face-to-face meeting between the leaders of the two countries after Hegseth’s visit to Japan in October last year.
