BJP’s Shreyasi Singh is the current MLA from Jamui seat. In 2020, Singh won the assembly elections decisively by defeating RJD’s Vijay Prakash Yadav by a margin of 41,049 votes. A champion shooter, who won a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Shreyasi Singh is eyeing a second stint from Jamui.
This constituency has seen three different parties winning in 2010, 2015 and 2020. Voters here regularly switch between parties, making it a very unpredictable battleground with an average victory margin of 15.98%. According to 2011 census data, Jamui district has a sizeable minority population, with Muslims constituting about 12.36% of the total population.
Jamui Assembly Elections 2025: Key Dates
Jamui constituency will go to polls in the second phase on November 11 along with other 121 assembly constituencies. The results of Jamui seat will be released on November 14 along with the election results of all the assembly seats of Bihar.

Assembly: What happened in 2020 and 2015 elections?
In the 2020 elections, BJP candidate Shreyasi Singh won the Jamui seat by 41,049 votes. He received 79,603 votes with 43.89% vote share. He defeated RJD candidate Vijay Prakash Yadav, who received 38,554 votes (21.26%). Jan Adhikar Party (Democratic) candidate Mohammad Shamshad Alam came third with 17,800 votes (9.81%).
In 2015, RJD candidate Vijay Prakash Yadav had won the Jamui seat by a margin of 8,249 votes. He received 66,577 votes with 42.24% vote share. Ajay Pratap of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came second with 58,328 votes (37.01%). Independent candidate Ravindra Kumar Mandal came third with 8,267 votes (5.24%).
