Srinagar, Nov 5 (IANS) Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Manoj Sinha, on Wednesday said the new vision of Jammu and Kashmir is one of fear-free peace, prosperity and unity, with every citizen impacted by India’s rapid progress.

LG Manoj Sinha on Wednesday delivered the keynote address at a two-day international seminar on ‘Peace, People and Possibilities in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir’.

The symposium was organized by Vishwagram, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education, compassion, arts and service across India.

In his address, the LG talked about a new vision of a growing Jammu and Kashmir that is peaceful, fear-free, prosperous, united and in which every citizen is empowered and influenced by India’s rapid progress.

He said that huge sacrifices have been made in the last 5 years to take Jammu and Kashmir to where it is today.

“The peace that is visible in Jammu and Kashmir today has given everyone an opportunity to flourish with mutual respect and everyone is getting equal opportunity to live a dignified life.

“The impact of people’s efforts for peace, a better tomorrow and immense possibilities for all without discrimination can be seen,” he said.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have adhered to the principles of people first, social justice and equality, which has transformed both the lives of people and the crown jewel of the nation,” he said.

The LG also highlighted the strong resolve to dismantle the terror ecosystem and reaffirmed the commitment to maintain peace, justice and equality.

“We are committed to strengthening socio-economic development and turning the dreams of our youth into reality,” he said.

He said, ‘Within five years, our brave forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police have created such a Jammu and Kashmir in which the sound of bullets and grenades has been replaced by the sound of ragas and new enthusiasm.’

“We have created a Jammu and Kashmir in which the walls of schools resonate not with the clash of stones, but with the laughter, innovation and education of children.”

“We have created a Jammu and Kashmir in which towns like Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam, which were once shrouded in silence, have now transformed into cultural and literary hubs for the youth.”

He said, “Markets like Lal Chowk and Polo View are no longer deserted but are glowing with new vibrancy. We have created a Jammu and Kashmir in which new aspirations are floating on the waves of Vista (Jhelum).”

The Lieutenant Governor said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are the heartbeat of peace. He called on all sections of society to work as a single, unified force against elements attempting to disrupt peace and combat the menace of drug addiction and youth radicalization. He said that for peace, progress and prosperity everyone should follow the rule of law.

Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board; Swami Jitendra Saraswatiji; Professor Neelofar Khan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir; Pro. Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir; Professor (Dr.) Geeta Singh, National President, Vishwagram; Heads of educational institutions, senior officers of civil and police administration, members of Vishwagram, thinkers, educationists and a large number of youth were present.
