According to police officials, a 24 -year -old woman from Jammu and Kashmir was allegedly molested outside Gate 8 of Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi.
The incident was reported to Jamia Nagar Police Station after receiving a call about a person abused a girl near the university gate.
“It has been presented that an oral call was received in PS Jamia Nagar about the misconduct of a girl outside Jamia University Gate 8 outside Jamia University Gate 8,” police said.
After investigation, it was discovered that a cook in Jammu -Kashmir Hostel Mess at Jamia University, Aabid (22), when she allegedly molested a complainant from Okhla village, he went to the footpath, which was walking in the opposite direction.
The accused was immediately detained by the police.
However, the woman did not make her statement on the night of the incident, and the matter was kept pending. On the morning of 28 April, the complainant reported the incident and gave it a formal statement. Subsequently, a case was registered under sections 354 and 354A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Police said Abid, a resident of village Bhasi, District Noah, Haryana, was arrested in connection with the case.
Earlier today, a mess worker at Jamia Millia Islamia University in the national capital has been detained for allegedly attacking a Kashmiri woman on the campus.
The alleged attack occurred on April 27 at 9:30 pm when a 24 -year -old MA student of the second year MA was allegedly attacked by 22 -year -old Mess Worker, who was identified as Abid.
A police officer said, “The accused was detained the same night. The student has not yet filed a formal complaint, but he is expected to do so today, after which an FIR will be lodged.”
Police said a dispute arising out of a personal case.
