Jammu, Nov 24 (IANS) The Jammu sub-zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday said the agency has seized immovable property worth Rs 1 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
An ED press statement said, “Jammu sub-zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached immovable property worth about Rs 1 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
The statement said, “The provisionally attached assets include industrial land at Panipat, Haryana of M/s Vidit Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. ED has filed FIR against M/s Vidit Healthcare (Managing Partner, Neeraj Bhatia), Niket Kansal and others for misuse of codeine based cough syrup (CBCS), “Cocrex” as a narcotic/drug from the manufacturer M/s Vidit Healthcare. “Investigation has been initiated in connection with the case registered by Jammu NCB for illegal use.”
ED investigation has revealed that M/s Vidit Healthcare had supplied CBCS worth about Rs 16.74 crore to entities such as M/s SS Industries, M/s Kansal Industries, M/s Noveta Pharma, M/s Kansal Pharmaceuticals and NK Pharmaceuticals (all run and controlled by Delhi resident Niket Kansal) during 2018-24. A part of such illegally extracted CBCS was supplied to Raees Ahmed Bhatt. A resident of Srinagar, from whom a large quantity of CBCS was seized by NCB on January 14, 2024.”
ED investigation has revealed that M/s Vidit Healthcare has earned gross profit of approximately Rs 2.92 crore as proceeds of crime from the sale of codeine-based cough syrup (CBCS) to entities run by Niket Kansal. On February 13, 2025, cash worth Rs 32 lakh and jewelery worth Rs 1.61 crore were seized from the residential premises of Neeraj Bhatia and taking the investigation forward, the ED has attached immovable property worth about Rs one crore in the form of land in Panipat of M/s Vidit Healthcare.
“Further investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.
