"Jammu and Kashmir deserves the state without delay": CM Omar

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that Jammu and Kashmir should be allowed by the state at the earliest, as it is the right of the people who are waiting for its restoration.

During a address at the National Tribal Festival in Gurez, Omar Abdullah, per news agency -Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the Supreme Court had mentioned the state’s restoration during the hearing of Article 370 last year.

He said that the state is the right of Jammu and Kashmir and should be given without further delay.

The Chief Minister also talked about the importance of hosting the festival near the Line of Control (LOC). He said that it was important to open this event openly and celebrate with full enthusiasm, so that others could witness the cultural vibrancy of the region despite challenges.

On border tourism, the Chief Minister said that peace is important, there is a plan to improve border tourism in Kashmir and Jammu. “Border tourism can be an important factor to reduce unemployment and promote local economy, especially in remote areas,” he said.

On a long pending demand for the construction of a tunnel for Gurez in Sazdan Pass, he said that about 10 km tunnel will be possible and it would be made- (KNO)
