Jaishankar discusses West Asia strategic partnership with Saudi counterparts

India and Saudi Arabia have centuries of economic and socio-cultural ties

On Saturday, local time, during the Munich Security Conference, Foreign Minister Jaishankar met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal to discuss the situation in West Asia and strategic partnership.

Notably, India and Saudi Arabia have centuries of economic and socio-cultural ties. The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia said economic relations are an important aspect of the bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries.

Jaishankar is currently in Munich, Germany, to attend the 2024 Munich Security Conference (MSC) from February 16 to 18. Earlier, he met with Atlantic Council Chairman Fred Kempe.

Earlier, EAM S Jaishankar met his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide on Saturday and had a “big picture chat” with him on the sidelines of a security meeting in the German capital Munich. The two leaders discussed reformed multilateralism and world order.

EAM posted on “Talked about the need for reformed multilateralism and a fairer world order,” he added.

He also participated in the conference ‘Vishwa Mitra: Bridging the Divide’ organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) India, a New Delhi-based think tank. “Join @FaisalbinFarhan, @stephenharper, @vestager and @OSSullivanMeghan at the ‘Vishwa Mitra: Bridging the Divide’ conference hosted by @orfonline. He also met with the foreign ministers of Poland, Belgium and Portugal on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Jaishankar met with Portuguese Foreign Minister Joao Cravinho and exchanged views on recent global developments.

The 2024 Munich Security Conference (MSC) opened in the German capital on February 16 and will conclude on Sunday. MSC 2024 provides a unique opportunity for high-level debate on the world’s most pressing security challenges.
